Mapping Out an Affiliate Marketing Plan

Mapping out an affiliate marketing planLaura L. Marshel of Lalymom joins us on Day 3 of the Plaid St Annual Conference as part of our Affiliate Marketing Academy to map out an affliliate marketing plan.

“I attended Plaid St last year and found that the affiliate sessions, while helpful, were from the point of affiliate networks and managers. I feel like I could speak more from a bloggers perspective.”

Laura will let you in on the #1 mindset shift you need to make affiliate marketing a solid revenue stream and will identify ways to choose affiliate products that resonate with your audience.

An Interview with Laura

Question 1: What is your favorite part about presenting?

My favorite part about presenting is the chance to give back. I have had the support, help and guidance of many other amazing bloggers since I started my blog. From Facebook groups, conference speakers to one on one chats, I’ve probably had a million questions answered over the years. Presenting gives me a way to pay it forward and hopefully provide a spark that ignites a new income stream for others.

Question 2: What are you most looking forward to as a Plaid St presenter?

I am most looking forward to offering a different perspective on affiliate marketing for those who have not found a foothold there before. I think for a lot of bloggers, affiliate marketing is either an after thought or an unknown. I know that when I started blogging I would sprinkle affiliate links throughout my posts and just cross my fingers that someone would click an amazon link for craft sticks and maybe buy a flat screen. I want to provide a different way to approach affiliate marketing to help make it a part of how you serve your audience.

Question 3: Can you offer a tip to attendees to make the most out of their experience at a conference?

My best advice to make the most out of the conference is to have a separate page of notes that is solely dedicated to specific action items for your blog. I love a good motivational quote and strategic goal when I hear one, but after you get home it can be hard to sift through your notes and apply ALL THE THINGS you just learned to your blog. Making an action items list will help you hit the ground running and not forget that a-ha moment you had in the middle of the conference. Extra bonus points if you use the time between sessions to start implementing your action items on site.
