An Interview with Eirene

Question 1: What is your favorite part about presenting?

I always hope to inspire and connect with others when I present. My biggest goal is to make a difference to people’s lives, and I love watching my words resonate with the audience. The Q&A section is always my favorite part as I get to interact with people and feel challenged.

Of course, I get scared before every talk so I always practice privately in the sanctuary of my own home to build my confidence. I love the saying “Do something every day that scares you”. Public speaking definitely pushes me out of my comfort zone!

Question 2: What Are You Most Looking Forward To As a Plaid St Presenter?

I’m really looking forward to being part of the Plaid St community. Participating as a presenter is only a small part of this – learning and supporting others is the most important part. I look forward to broadening my network and connecting with others.

Question 3: Can You Offer A Tip To Attendees To Make The Most Out Of Their Experience At A Conference ?

Don’t be nervous! Everyone is in the same boat. No one, not even the most confident person, feels at home being thrust into a room full of strangers.

I recommend taking a deep breath, then turn to the person next to you and introduce yourself. Find a friend. Before you know it, the day will be over and you’ll have conquered your networking fears, eased your anxieties and made meaningful business acquaintances.

On a practical level, please don’t forget your business cards. When other people forget, I always ask them to type their contact info into my phone so I can follow up. Also, have your elevator pitch ready! “Hi, my name is X and I do Y. Tell me about your business.” Most importantly, always follow up after the conference.
